Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday said the state, under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s leadership, had emerged as a model for the rest of the country.
Addressing media, Goud praised the government’s push for backward class empowerment, calling the decision to provide 42% reservation a milestone. He said the caste-based survey initiated by Revanth Reddy, inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s vision, had made history.
He announced several initiatives to strengthen the party and reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to delivering on electoral promises and ensuring public-oriented governance.
Turning to the BRS, Goud launched a scathing attack on the internal discord plaguing the opposition party. He claimed a power struggle was ongoing between Kalvakuntla Kavitha, K T Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao, while party chief K Chandrashekar Rao had retreated into isolation at his farmhouse. He predicted the BRS would become politically irrelevant by the next elections.
On national politics, he accused the BJP of exploiting religion for political ends. Goud criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling “Operation Sindoor” a reflection of power hunger.
Referring to the recent India-Pakistan tensions, Goud questioned the central government’s silence. “What did the country lose and gain in this war? Why is the truth being hidden from the public?” he asked.
He also spoke out against a misinformation campaign targeting Minister Konda Surekha, alleging that her statements had been distorted. A cybercrime complaint had been lodged in response, he said.
Dismissing speculation about leadership changes in the state, Goud said it was a fabrication by the opposition. He affirmed that the Congress government was steadily implementing its schemes, including free rice distribution, public transport services, and improvements in education and health sectors.
