Hyderabad, February 4: BJP Legislative Party leader A Maheshwar Reddy has criticised the ruling Congress government, alleging that the caste census is being conducted for political advantage rather than genuine social upliftment.
Speaking at the BJP Legislative Party office, Reddy questioned the Congress’s commitment to enhancing Backward Classes (BC) reservations. He demanded that BC quotas be increased to 45% and accused the Congress of delaying action under the pretext of legal hurdles.
Maheshwar Reddy also criticised the limited ministerial representation of BCs in the current government and accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) of conducting a similar Integrated Household Survey (IHS) without releasing its findings.
His remarks come amid ongoing Telangana Assembly debates on the caste census and its impact on reservation policies.
