Hyderabad: Thieves escaped with ₹4 lakh in cash and four kilograms of silver from a parked bus near a highway dhaba in Jadcherla late Thursday night.
The incident occurred near the popular Mansoor Dhaba along the national highway, where a bus had stopped for dinner. The victim, Kommaresh from Salem, Tamil Nadu, was carrying the valuables in a bag placed on his seat. He had purchased silver in Hyderabad and was en route to Tamil Nadu on a private travel bus.
According to the complaint filed with Jadcherla police, Kommaresh stepped away from the bus briefly. While passengers were dining, two men on a motorbike approached the vehicle, snatched the unattended bag from his seat, and fled.
By the time Kommaresh noticed the theft, the suspects had vanished. Passengers at the scene were reportedly stunned by the speed of the theft.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Mahbubnagar DSP Venkateshwarlu, along with CIs Kamalakar and Nagarjuna Goud and SIs Jayaprasad, Mallesh, and Khadar, visited the scene and began gathering evidence.
Checkposts and toll gates across the district were alerted, and special teams were deployed to trace the culprits. Police said the same dhaba has witnessed several large thefts in the past.
