Hyderabad: In a show of strength and solidarity, Congress MP Dr Mallu Ravi officially assumed charge as Chairman of the TPCC Disciplinary Committee at a packed ceremony in Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday.
Arriving from Shamshabad airport in a convoy surrounded by cheering supporters, Mallu Ravi received a rousing welcome from a large gathering of leaders and party workers who had thronged the venue to greet him.
Senior leaders from the Mahbubnagar district turned out in significant numbers, extending their best wishes to Mallu Ravi as he stepped into his new role. Among those in attendance were MPs Balaram Naik and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, MLAs Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Vamshi Krishna, Shadnagar Shankaraiah, Nagarkurnool Rajesh Reddy, Vanaparthi Meghareddy, Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, Makthal Srihari Mudiraj, Malreddy Rangareddy, and MLC Addanki Dayakar.
The event also saw the presence of Working President Anjan Kumar Yadav, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, AICC secretary Sampath Kumar, CWC member Vamsichand Reddy, and several corporation chairpersons, including Jeripati Jaipal, Kalva Sujatha, Naidu Satyanarayana, Odidulla Kotwal, Saritha Tirupataiah, Vajresh Yadav, Paramesh Reddy, Bhoopathi Reddy, Kumar Rao, and others.
Addressing the gathering, Mallu Ravi reminded party workers that while Congress stood for democratic freedom, discipline remained non-negotiable. “There is freedom within the party to express your views, but no one should cross the Lakshman Rekha,” he cautioned, sending a clear message on maintaining decorum.
Reflecting on his political journey, Mallu Ravi said, “I’ve had the honour of serving as an MP three times, once as an MLA, and twice as a special representative in Delhi. But being appointed as the Disciplinary Committee Chairman gives me the greatest satisfaction.”
He expressed his gratitude to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for entrusting him with the role.

“Congress is a party that believes in democratic values,” he said. “Speak your mind within the four walls, but do not engage in any anti-party activities. Stay within the boundaries of discipline.”
