Man attacked with sickle in Marikal over alleged affair, accused absconding

Hyderabad: A man was seriously injured in a murder attempt late Saturday night in Marikal mandal headquarters of Narayanpet district.

According to Marikal SI Rajashekar and Dhanwada ASI Ellayya, the victim, Lambadi Venkatesh (45), was attacked with a sickle by Bondala Mallesh, a resident of the same village.

The assault took place using a coconut-cutting sickle. Venkatesh sustained grievous injuries and was initially treated at a private hospital in Marikal before being shifted to the Mahbubnagar district hospital.

Police said the attack was linked to a suspected extramarital affair.

Venkatesh’s wife Lakshmamma filed a complaint. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

The accused, Mallesh, is absconding. Police said Venkatesh is out of danger.
