Hyderabad: A Hyderabad suicide attempt was averted on Wednesday after a 35-year-old man climbed a high-tension electric pole in the Katedhan area. The man, identified as Venu from Brindavan Colony, alleged police inaction on his earlier complaint about loan-related threats.
Venu claimed he had approached the Mailardevpally Police Station seeking protection but received no help. Frustrated by the lack of response, he attempted suicide and warned that he would end his life if officials failed to act.
Police intervene to stop Hyderabad suicide attempt
As news of the Hyderabad suicide attempt spread, police immediately cut the power supply and rushed to the spot. Officers persuaded Venu to come down by assuring him that his grievance would be addressed fairly. After nearly 20 minutes of negotiation, he climbed down safely.
The incident caused panic among locals and disrupted traffic for a short time. Police said they would review Venu’s complaint and take appropriate action against those who threatened him.
