Hyderabad: A chit fund dispute in Madhura Nagar spiralled into violence after a man allegedly bit off a woman’s finger during an altercation.
Mamatha, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, had been renting a house from Sujitha for the past three years. Sujitha also ran a chit fund, and owed Mamatha ₹30,000. When Mamatha turned up at Sujitha’s house with her husband, Hemanth, to recover the money, the argument escalated.
As tempers flared, Sujitha’s mother Latha (45) tried to intervene. Hemanth allegedly bit her right index finger in the scuffle. She rushed to a hospital, clutching the severed finger. Doctors later informed her that it could not be reattached.
Police have arrested Hemanth.
