Hyderabad: A 23-year-old man died by suicide at his home in Ramavaram, under Kothagudem municipality, on Wednesday. The incident followed a prolonged marital dispute and a dowry case filed by his wife.
Man under mental distress after wife filed dowry case
Police identified the deceased as Mailaram Jai Kumar, a resident of Punjab Gadda in Ramavaram. His family said he married Akhila Bhargavi from Hyderabad three years ago after a relationship.
The couple lived in Khammam for two years, where Jai Kumar worked in a private firm. A year ago, Akhila returned to her parents in Hyderabad and later filed a dowry harassment case.
Two months ago, she appeared in court and stated that she no longer wished to live with him. Jai Kumar’s father, Mailaram Prasad, told police that his son became severely depressed after the court proceedings and died by hanging.
The family lodged a complaint with the Two Town Police. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation.
