Hyderabad: A man from Dubbak town fell seriously ill after consuming expired beer allegedly sold at a local wine shop, triggering concerns over negligence in liquor sales.
According to the victim’s family and friends, the man purchased two bottles of Budweiser Magnum beer from Renuka Wines in Dubbak and consumed them. Soon after, he complained of a burning sensation in his stomach. Doubting the quality of the liquor, he returned to the same shop and bought another bottle of the same brand. On checking the label, he found that the beer had already crossed its expiry date.

The victim immediately confronted the wine shop management, reporting severe abdominal pain. The shop owners reportedly arranged for him to be taken to a private hospital in Dubbak for initial treatment.
Family members then shifted him to a private hospital in Siddipet for better medical care. Doctors conducted diagnostic tests and informed the family that he would require time to recover. Hospital sources said he was under observation and receiving symptomatic treatment for abdominal irritation.
Relatives accused the wine shop of negligence, saying the expired liquor should not have been on sale in the first place. They demanded strict action against the management, saying its negligence had endangered public health.
The incident has raised concern among residents of Dubbak over the sale of expired liquor products. Local citizens said authorities must ensure strict checks on retail liquor outlets to prevent similar incidents.
Police have not yet confirmed whether a formal complaint was lodged in connection with the sale of expired beer.
