Anantapur: A violent clash over a land dispute near Rachanapalli village turned deadly on Tuesday, leaving a 76-year-old man dead and the area tense.
According to police, the trouble started when two rival groups got into a heated argument over the ownership of a plot. Words quickly turned into blows, sparking a full-on confrontation.
In the chaos, 76-year-old Konayya fell and suffered a severe head injury. He died at the scene, police said.
Anantapur police rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the long-standing land dispute was at the heart of the clash.
A case has been filed against six people under IPC Section 302 (murder) and other relevant sections. The victim’s body was sent to Anantapur Government Hospital for a post-mortem.
Officers have gathered evidence and are combing through nearby CCTV footage to identify and track down those involved. Police have fanned out across the area in search of the suspects.
The incident has left the village tense, with authorities stepping up security and local officials working to calm frayed nerves.
