Hyderabad: A man from Rayavaram village in Telangana’s Nagar Kurnool district brutally murdered his wife, suspecting that she was involved in an extramarital affair. He then set her body on fire in a remote forest area and later surrendered to the police.
According to police, Shreeshylam and Shravani (27), a native of Gottur in Mahbubnagar district, had met in 2014 through a “range number” phone connection. Their conversations led to a relationship and eventually marriage. The couple had a son and a daughter.
However, not long after their marriage, Shravani left her husband and children to live with her brother-in-law. She returned to her marital home a year ago, and Shreeshylam accepted her back.

Despite her return, frequent quarrels erupted between the couple. Shreeshylam suspected Shravani was talking to someone else over the phone and accused her of continuing an affair. After repeated arguments failed to stop her behaviour, he allegedly planned to murder her.
On the pretext of taking her to Somashila, Shreeshylam took Shravani on his bike. Near Sathapur in Peddakottapalli mandal, he led her into a forest under the guise of collecting custard apples. There, he tied a towel around her neck, strangled her, and stabbed her multiple times with a knife he had carried. After killing her, he poured petrol over her body and set it ablaze before fleeing.
When Shravani’s father filed a missing complaint, police launched an investigation. Soon after, Shreeshylam surrendered at the police station and confessed to the crime.
