Hyderabad: Rejected, ignored, and humiliated. He waited eight years. And then stabbed the man in the chest.
It happened in Bhagat Singh Nagar Phase-1, under KPHB Colony police limits. A 27-year-old named Pampena Ayyappa Swamy, alias Pawan, originally from Kakinada, murdered Kalla Venkat Ramana (32) the husband of a woman he once obsessed over.
Pawan had studied till Class 9. Lost his mother early. Grew up with his aunt. Somewhere along the line, he fell into one-sided love with a woman named Shravani Sandhya. Asked her family for her hand, even involved relatives.
They refused. Said no because of his behaviour. Married her off to Venkat Ramana, a man from Mulagadu village in Korukonda mandal, near Rajahmundry.
The couple later settled in Hyderabad. That should’ve been the end.
But it wasn’t.
Recently, Sandhya travelled to Rajahmundry with her sister. Pawan spotted her. Old obsession lit up again. Decided he had to eliminate the husband. Moved into a place near her home.
Started lurking. Parking his bike outside their house. Abusing when confronted. Creating a scene.
Then came May 10. Around midnight. Venkat Ramana was at a relative’s house his co-brother Durga Prasad’s place along with other family members.
Pawan landed up with a gang: Gubbala Shivaramakrishna (20), Anil from Rajamahendravaram (19), Nambigari Sai Kumar (20), and another minor.
He picked a fight. Turned aggressive. Pulled out a knife. Plunged it into Ramana’s chest.
Ramana died on the spot.
Police reached the scene quickly. By the next day, they had Shivaramakrishna, Anil, Sai Kumar, and the juvenile in custody.
Pawan went underground. He was arrested on Thursday and sent to remand.
DCP Balanagar Suresh Kumar, along with ACP Srinivas Rao and CI Rajashekhar Reddy, revealed the details. The investigation team was formally commended.
