Hyderabad: Assistant Labour Officer Katam Ram Mohan, posted as FAC at Sirpur Kagaznagar, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday after being caught red-handed while accepting a ₹50,000 bribe.
According to the ACB, the officer demanded money from a complainant in exchange for processing an application for accident death compensation and funeral expenses. The application was related to the death of the complainant’s brother, a registered building construction labourer.
ACB officials recovered the full bribe amount from the officer’s possession during a raid at his residence in Mancherial. A chemical test confirmed traces of the bribe on both of the officer’s hands. Authorities stated that the officer had clearly acted dishonestly and in violation of his official duties.
The officer has been arrested and is being produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases in Karimnagar. The case remains under investigation. Details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has urged the public to report any similar demands for bribes by calling the toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp at 9440446106. Complaints can also be made on Facebook (Telangana ACB) or X (formerly Twitter) @TelanganaACB.
