HYDERABAD, February 5: Mandakrishna Madiga, founder president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), on Wednesday, expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s proposed Scheduled Caste (SC) reservation allocations, asserting that the Madiga community is entitled to an 11% share rather than the suggested 9%.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Mr. Madiga contended that the current proposal shortchanges the community by 2%. He urged the government to rectify these discrepancies to ensure fair distribution of reservations.
In light of the recent approval of SC classification by the state assembly, he emphasised that, based on the Madiga population, the community deserves an 11% reservation share. He lamented that the government’s proposal allocates only 9%, which he deemed insufficient.
Consequently, the MRPS has decided to postpone the ‘Laksha Dappulu, Veyi Gonthulu’ event, initially scheduled for 7th February in Hyderabad. Mr. Madiga announced that this programme will be rescheduled as a cultural festival in approximately 15 days.
