HYDERABAD: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Monday unveiled the Dr Manmohan Singh Fellowship, a new initiative aimed at nurturing professionals who wish to transition into political leadership. The launch event was held at Gandhi Bhavan, with TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud leading the proceedings.
Describing the fellowship as a significant and timely initiative, Goud said it would provide a constructive path for accomplished professionals keen on public service through politics. He praised the All India Professional Congress (AIPC) for designing and initiating the programme, noting its potential to attract talented individuals into the Congress fold.
Goud also highlighted the political journey of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, attributing his entry into public life to the encouragement of another former PM, P. V. Narasimha Rao. He said Singh’s legacy as a technocrat-turned-leader made the fellowship all the more relevant, as it resonates with those who share similar aspirations.
“The Manmohan Singh Fellowship is more than just an academic or leadership programme—it’s a platform for individuals who are serious about political engagement and social change,” Goud said. He extended congratulations to the AIPC team for their efforts in launching the initiative under the TPCC banner.
The event was attended by national and state-level leaders from the All India Professional Congress, who echoed the sentiment that the fellowship represents a new chapter in political talent cultivation.
