Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Bathini Ranjith, Sub-Inspector of Police at Manuguru in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, for demanding a bribe of ₹40,000.
According to officials, Ranjith sought the money for issuing notices under Section 35(3) of the BNSS Act. The demand was tied to Crime No. 292/2025, booked under Sections 318(iv), 296(3), and 3(v) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Manuguru Sub-Inspector ACB case under investigation
ACB teams took Ranjith into custody. They will present him before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal. The bureau confirmed it acted on a complaint but kept the complainant’s identity confidential for security reasons.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
