HYDERABAD: Security forces have secured two strategically important hill regions on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border in a major anti-Maoist operation. The move marks a significant advance in efforts to curb Maoist activity in the region.
As a symbol of their success, forces hoisted the national flag at Kerri Gutta. Intelligence reports suggest that two to three senior Maoist leaders are believed to be active in the area, prompting authorities to continue the operation with calculated precision.
The ongoing mission forms part of a larger security strategy aimed at dismantling Maoist strongholds near the inter-state border. Security officials confirmed that the terrain posed operational challenges but was crucial in limiting the rebels’ mobility and influence.
Reacting to the development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister questioned those advocating peace talks with Maoists, asking where such voices are when innocent civilians are targeted by the insurgents.
The crackdown is being seen as a critical step toward regaining control of forested and hilly areas that have long served as Maoist hideouts.
