Hyderabad: A major blaze ripped through the Surya Enterprises godown in Papireddy Nagar, Jagadgirigutta, early Wednesday, triggering mass panic across the densely packed residential locality.
The fire, reported around dawn, engulfed large volumes of plastic, fibre, and other combustible stockpiled inside the facility. Thick plumes of smoke forced residents in the vicinity to evacuate and call emergency services.
Two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters and Jagadgirigutta police personnel arrived shortly after the alarm was raised and worked to contain the blaze.
Thankfully, there were no injuries, but the fire left behind significant property damage, officials said. While the exact cause hasn’t been confirmed yet, investigators believe it may have started due to a short circuit inside the godown.
Jagadgirigutta police have filed a case and are digging deeper into what led to the blaze.
