Hyderabad: The Mee Seva system has launched a new process to simplify the issuance of caste certificates for BC, SC, and ST citizens, except in special cases.
Earlier, every application needed the tahsildar’s approval. This step created delays for many. Following directions from IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Mee Seva studied the issue. Officials from CCLA, BC Welfare, SC Welfare, district administrations, and tahsildars joined the review.
The department rolled out the change 15 days ago. Since then, 17,571 citizens have already used the service. Authorities expect around 2 million applications for caste certificates every year.
Mee Seva caste certificates are issued faster
The revised certificates carry details of the officer who cleared the earlier request, along with the reissue date. In special cases, such as when community status changes after conversion, officials will still process applications under government orders.
Applicants with an outdated certificate number can obtain a new printout at any Mee Seva counter. Without the number, staff can trace records using district, mandal, village, sub-caste, and name details. Mee Seva Commissioner Ravikiran said people can also visit the website or the nearest centre for help.
