Hyderabad: AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on Sunday declared the Telangana development model as a national ideal, asserting that the Congress government remained committed to the welfare of the poor and marginalised.
Addressing a public meeting in Khanapur during her Janahita Padayatra, Natarajan said the Congress has consistently worked for Adivasi rights, from Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi. She claimed that the party alone ensured Adivasis’ legal access to jal, jungle, and jameen.
She said former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi “loved Adivasis” and wished to be reborn as one.

Natarajan said Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra aimed to understand the real struggles of the people, especially those in marginalised communities. She added that the Congress waived farm loans and granted legal rights over podu lands to protect tribal livelihoods.
She said the SC/ST sub-plan was being implemented under the Congress regime to ensure targeted development. She also promised 42 percent reservation for BCs in upcoming local body polls, calling it a concrete move toward representational justice.
