Hyderabad: AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on Saturday urged students to fix their goals early and seriously consider entering politics to build a better nation. “If the country must progress, today’s youth must take political responsibility,” she said, addressing students at Nehru Memorial Degree College in Jogipet, Sangareddy.
The visit was part of the Congress’s Janahita Padayatra. Natarajan participated in a campus cleaning drive along with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud. The team cleared weeds and shrubs and planted saplings with faculty and students.
Interacting with students after the drive, Natarajan asked them about their career ambitions. When responses ranged from teaching to engineering and law, she pressed them on why politics didn’t figure among their goals. “Only through honesty and commitment in any profession can you earn respect,” she said, adding that political engagement from student life strengthens civic awareness.
She said the cleanliness drive aimed to instill responsibility among students, encouraging them to influence their communities to maintain clean surroundings. She urged them to work hard, aim high, and master not just their mother tongue but also English and Hindi to broaden opportunities.
