MEERUT: In a chilling repeat of a recent murder in which a woman dismembered her husband’s body and hid it in a cement drum, another gruesome incident has come to light in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. A woman, with the help of her lover, strangled her husband to death and attempted to make it appear as though he had died of a snakebite.
According to police, the accused, identified as Ravita (25), lived with her husband Amit Kashyap (25), a daily wage labourer. Over time, she developed a relationship with Amit’s friend, Amardeep. When Amit discovered the affair, frequent arguments ensued.
On Saturday night, after Amit returned home and had dinner, he went to bed. Ravita and Amardeep, as per their premeditated plan, strangled him to death in his sleep. To mislead the family and authorities, they released a snake beside the corpse and claimed that Amit had died due to a snakebite.
However, the post-mortem report revealed clear signs of strangulation, contradicting the snakebite claim. Upon interrogation, both Ravita and Amardeep confessed to the murder.
Police have taken both into custody and registered a case. Investigations are ongoing.
