HYDERABAD: A mild earthquake struck Gujarat in the early hours of Saturday, triggering panic among residents in the Banaskantha district. The tremor occurred at approximately 3:35 a.m. near Vav, sending people rushing out of their homes.
According to the Institute of Seismological Research, the quake measured 3.4 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was located at a depth of 4.9 kilometres beneath the earth’s surface.
Though the seismic event caused a brief scare, there were no reports of casualties or property damage. Many locals, startled from their sleep by the tremors, fled their homes in fear but returned once the situation stabilised.
Authorities confirmed that the tremor was of a minor nature and posed no significant threat.
