Hyderabad: Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday visited the Kadem project in Adilabad joint district, where heavy rainfall has increased inflows and flood threats. Engineering officials briefed him on the reservoir’s current water levels and discharge rate.
He urged residents to stay alert and follow updates from authorities. According to him, the government completed repair works worth ₹9 crore, which secured the safety of the dam.
Rao said low-lying villages had seen roads washed out due to flood impact. Moreover, floods had damaged fields, homes, and transport routes. Once the rains subside, he said, departments would carry out a survey, assess the losses, and send a report to the state. Based on the findings, the government would provide financial aid.
Meanwhile, search teams continued looking for a fisherman who was swept away by floodwaters. Rao assured that the government would fully support the victim’s family.
Looking ahead, he said the government planned to boost tourism around the Kadem reservoir, which could create jobs for local youth. He asked officials to issue early warnings and take swift relief measures. In addition, he told them to alert residents in riverbank and flood-prone areas well in advance.
Nirmal District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav, SP Janaki Sharmila, MLC Dande Vittal, Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju Patel, and senior officials accompanied the Minister during the visit.
