Hyderabad: Telangana moves to end film industry strike with a government-backed mediation plan aimed at restarting halted shootings across the state. Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy met producers and film association leaders at the Secretariat on Monday to break the deadlock.
The minister announced a dedicated committee to hold talks with all stakeholders and find lasting solutions to cine workers’ issues. He urged producers and unions to show flexibility and resume shooting from Wednesday. “The government stands with workers, but they must also consider the concerns of small producers,” he said.
Reddy reiterated the government’s commitment to worker welfare, noting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s plans to provide housing and improved facilities for economically weaker cine workers. He stressed that strikes damage the industry’s reputation and that dialogue is the only way forward.
Outlining the broader vision, he said Hyderabad will be developed into a global film hub, with Telangana’s scenic locations promoted to boost film tourism, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy.
Telangana State Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju called for unity within the industry to support the government’s plans. Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, representatives from various film associations, and senior officials also attended the meeting.
