Hyderabad, January 30: Forests & Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has been invited to the upcoming Brahmotsavam and Mahashivratri celebrations at the Jogulamba Bala Brahmeshwari Swamy Temple. The temple’s Executive Officer (EO) Purendra Kumar, along with priests, met the minister at her office in the Secretariat and formally extended the invitation. The priests also presented her with theertha prasadam and the invitation letter after a Vedic blessing ceremony.
The Brahmotsavam will be held from January 30 to February 3, while the Mahashivratri celebrations will take place from February 25 to March 1. Key rituals include Dhwajarohanam, Maha Purnahuti, Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, Kalyanotsavam, Rathotsavam, Ashwavahana Seva, and Avabhrudotsavam. Minister Surekha directed the temple authorities to coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth arrangements for devotees. She emphasised that the festivals should be conducted with grandeur, leaving no scope for shortcomings.
Minister expresses shock over Siddipet labourers’ deaths
Earlier in the day, Minister Konda Surekha expressed deep sorrow over the death of two MGNREGA workers in Govardhanagiri, Husnabad, Siddipet district. She discussed the incident over the phone with Siddipet Collector Manu Chaudhary to understand the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
The minister instructed the district administration to ensure financial assistance and other entitlements for the deceased workers’ families as per MGNREGA norms. She also urged officials to expedite relief measures for the injured.
Additionally, she enquired about the health condition of Swaroopa, a severely injured worker undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital, Warangal. Minister Surekha spoke to Hospital Superintendent Kishore, instructing him to provide the best possible medical care. She also directed authorities to arrange food, accommodation, and other necessities for Swarupa’s husband during her hospital stay.
