HYDERABAD, February 8: In response to K.T. Rama Rao’s (KTR) remarks attributing the BJP’s victory in the Delhi elections to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Minister Konda Surekha has issued a strong rebuttal. She expressed surprise at KTR’s statements and reminded him of the BRS’s own electoral setbacks. Specifically, she pointed out that the BJP has won the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat twice, and that KTR’s sister, K. Kavitha, was defeated in the Nizamabad constituency during the 2019 elections.
Minister Surekha suggested that KTR should first acknowledge his sister’s role in the BJP’s successes, implying that internal factors within the BRS contributed to these outcomes. She also referenced the Delhi liquor scam in this context. Furthermore, she highlighted that Rahul Gandhi’s leadership has been instrumental in emphasizing constitutional values, which has had significant political implications. She noted that, despite these efforts, the BRS secured no seats in the parliamentary elections and is currently hesitant to contest MLC elections. Minister Surekha concluded by advising KTR to recognize deserving individuals when making public statements and wished him better luck in future endeavors.
This exchange underscores the ongoing political discourse and internal reflections within parties following recent electoral outcomes.
