Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and his wife presented the first Bonam and silk robes to Goddess Ujjaini Mahankali on behalf of the Telangana government on Sunday at the Secunderabad temple, marking the formal launch of Bonalu festivities.
The couple performed special pujas after presenting the offering. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Prabhakar extended Bonalu greetings to the people of the state.
He prayed for prosperity across Telangana, with good rainfall and abundant crops. “Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, all departments coordinated to ensure grand Bonalu celebrations,” he said.
Bonalu festivities, which began on June 26 with the Golconda Bonam, included the Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam on July 1 and have now culminated in the historic Lashkar Bonalu in Secunderabad.
