HYDERABAD, 30 January 2025: Tribal Welfare Minister Seethakka has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two Employment Guarantee Scheme workers in Govardhanagiri village, Akkannapet mandal, Siddipet district. Upon learning of the incident, she immediately dispatched the District Rural Development Officer (DRDO) to the site and sought detailed information from relevant department officials.
The minister was angered to learn that, despite district authorities issuing warnings a week prior against working in areas prone to accidents, the work continued. She has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident by department officials. Additionally, she instructed that the two injured workers receive the best possible medical treatment. Minister Seethakka assured that the government would support the families of the deceased and injured workers, directing Rural Development Department officials to make all necessary arrangements for the affected families.
According to reports, several workers from Govardhanagiri village were engaged in Employment Guarantee Scheme work on Thursday morning when a mud mound suddenly collapsed. Two workers lost their lives, and five others sustained serious injuries. Revenue officials and police promptly arrived at the scene, conducted rescue operations, and recovered the bodies with the help of JCB machinery. The injured were transported to a local government hospital for treatment.
