Hyderabad: Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka has pledged full support to women employees across the state. She invited them to share any concerns directly with her and urged them to bring credit to the government through their work.
She made these comments during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the Secretariat Women Employees Welfare Association at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Minister Konda Surekha was also present.
Seethakka support women employees: minister pushes equality, dignity
Seethakka acknowledged the dual challenges women face in balancing family duties and professional responsibilities. She praised their dedication and noted that many sacrifice their own health to fulfill both roles. She added that women who receive family support, especially from spouses, are fortunate.
Emphasizing gender sensitivity, the minister urged parents to teach children how to respect women from an early age. “Equality starts with learning how to respect women,” she said.
To address workplace issues, Seethakka announced a round-table meeting on September 22. She invited all women employees to join and said their input would guide the development of new policies.
Free bus scheme criticism rooted in male bias, says Seethakka
Seethakka strongly criticised negative campaigns against the state’s free bus travel scheme for women. She said the backlash reflects male ego and feudal thinking. “When women unite, they can achieve the extraordinary,” she said.
She also highlighted the success of Telangana’s women self-help groups. Many now operate petrol pumps and earn substantial income, she noted, calling it a clear sign of growing empowerment.
The event also saw participation from Women’s Corporation Chairperson Bandru Shobharani, Women and Child Welfare Secretary Anita Ramachandran, and a large number of Secretariat women employees.
