Hyderabad: Stepping up efforts to combat child labour, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Seethakka on Tuesday inaugurated a state-wide awareness campaign by unveiling a powerful poster at Damodar Sanjeevaiah Welfare Bhavan, Masab Tank. The initiative, launched ahead of the International Day Against Child Labour on June 12, aims to rally communities and officials across Telangana to stand united against this persistent issue.
Flanked by Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Chairperson Seetha Dayakar Reddy and other commission members, Seethakka called on every citizen to be vigilant and proactive in protecting children’s rights. The campaign, themed “End Child Labour,” underscores the urgent need to eradicate the practice that continues to rob countless children of their future.
Taking the message to the grassroots, the Commission has directed all District Collectors to spearhead local awareness drives starting June 12. The move seeks to foster community-led vigilance and ensure that the voices of children are heard loud and clear.
Adding a symbolic weight to the campaign, the SCPCR is set to host a public gathering at Charminar on June 12. The event aims to unite citizens, activists, and officials in a show of solidarity, reinforcing the Commission’s vision that “Every Child in Telangana is Safe, Protected and Empowered.”
Citizens, departments, and community groups have been urged to report any instance of child labour, reinforcing the state’s collective commitment to building a child-labour-free Telangana.
