HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao has directed officials to assess the damage caused to crops by recent untimely rains and hailstorms across the state.
In response to reports of severe weather impacting various districts, the minister instructed the Agriculture Department to conduct field inspections and submit preliminary reports on the extent of crop damage. He emphasised the need for prompt action to support affected farmers.
The minister highlighted instances where paddy stocks at procurement centres were exposed to rain due to the lack of tarpaulin covers. He urged marketing officials to safeguard agricultural produce by ensuring adequate protective measures. Additionally, he directed Markfed authorities to expedite the transportation of procured crops to warehouses to prevent further losses.
With the Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rains in several regions over the next few days, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called for heightened vigilance. He instructed the Chief Secretary to continuously monitor the situation and ensure that the administrative machinery remains alert to address any emerging challenges.
