HYDERABAD: Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has announced that the government will take immediate steps to provide crop loss compensation to farmers affected by the recent hailstorms. He stated that once the comprehensive report on crop damage is received, the compensation process will commence promptly. The minister has directed officials to conduct a detailed survey of the affected farmers and prepare a final report to facilitate the compensation process. Preliminary assessments indicate that from March 21 to 23, hailstorms caused damage across 64 mandals in 13 districts, affecting approximately 11,298 acres of agricultural land. Among the damaged crops, paddy fields account for 6,670 acres, maize covers 4,100 acres, mango orchards span 309 acres, with the remaining area comprising other crops.
