Hyderabad: Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao urged poets, artists, and singers on Wednesday to showcase the Bathukamma festival’s cultural importance through creative works and performances. He said the event should project Telangana’s traditions, women’s unity, and nature’s beauty to the world.
The minister addressed a gathering at Tourism Plaza that included poets, lyricists, singers, cultural council members, and prominent personalities. He explained that the government had drawn up plans to hold Bathukamma celebrations on a grand scale this year.
Bathukamma festival cultural importance through literature and art
Jupally appealed to poets and artists to create works that introduce Bathukamma’s heritage to future generations. He encouraged them to highlight floral worship traditions, women’s aspirations, and the link between the festival and nature. Furthermore, he asked them to compose songs that emphasize the power of Goddess Gauramma and the hopes of women.
He also directed artists to prepare special songs and videos dedicated to Bathukamma. According to him, these works would spread awareness, attract greater public participation, and inspire society at large.
Cultural leaders join Bathukamma planning meeting
Professor Kodandaram, Agricultural and Farmers’ Welfare Commission member Bhavani Reddy, State Art Gallery Director Lakshmi, filmmaker Narpingar Rao, and lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja took part in the meeting. Several poets, folk singers, and members of the cultural advisory council also attended.
