Hyderabad, January 28: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to making Hyderabad a world-class city and a top global investment destination.

Addressing the Hyderabad Real Estate Summit 2025 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Madhapur on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy outlined a vision for the city’s future that focused on robust infrastructure development, economic growth, and proactive support for the real estate sector.

Commending the impressive turnout at the summit, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “The attendance here today clearly indicates that Hyderabad’s real estate market has recovered and is on its way to a major boom. This is one of the most well-attended events I’ve participated in recently, and it reflects the confidence and potential of this sector.” As a proud Hyderabadi, he expressed his personal connection to the city and lauded its strengths, including its moderate weather, cosmopolitan culture, skilled workforce, and high-quality infrastructure.

The Minister credited the previous Congress government initiatives for laying the foundation of Hyderabad’s development. He highlighted achievements such as the Outer Ring Road, Shamshabad Airport, the Metro Rail, and the supply of drinking water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers as milestones that contributed to Hyderabad’s emergence as one of India’s leading cities. “Hyderabad has grown from strength to strength, and I am confident it will soon be recognised as a global destination for investment,” he added.

Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the Rs 1.78 lakh crore in investments secured by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu at the recent World Economic Forum summit in Davos as a testament to Hyderabad’s potential. He assured the real estate sector that the Congress government is fully committed to creating a business-friendly environment and proactively addressing challenges. “Our government is available 24×7 for anything that real estate developers or builders require. If there are any issues, you can bring them to my notice directly, and I will represent them to the Chief Minister and the Cabinet,” he said.

Minister Uttam assured the audience that the government was fully committed to raising Hyderabad to global standards. To address traffic congestion, the government is working on expanding the Metro Rail network to enhance connectivity across the city. Additionally, a global-standard Skill University is being established to provide highly trained manpower for sectors such as IT, manufacturing, construction, and real estate. The Congress government is also establishing a state-of-the-art Sports University and a Future City project, comparable to the world’s best urban developments.

He highlighted the ambitious Musi Rejuvenation Project, aimed at transforming the river into an iconic waterfront similar to those in Seoul making it a centerpiece of Hyderabad’s urban development. “For those familiar with old Hyderabad and the flow of the Musi River through it, this project will transform the area into something extraordinary. We aim to create a riverfront similar to Seoul, where the Cheonggyecheon River has been revitalised. The rejuvenated Musi will not only enhance Hyderabad’s beauty but also become a thriving urban attraction,” he said.

The project includes restoring the river’s ecological balance, creating recreational spaces along its banks, and integrating the riverfront into the city’s broader urban fabric, making it a centre of both cultural and economic activity.

As the minister in charge of irrigation, Uttam Kumar Reddy stressed the government’s efforts to secure Hyderabad’s long-term water needs. “For generations to come, Hyderabad will have enough drinking water. We are building supplementary water lines from the Krishna and Godavari rivers to ensure this,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy reassured developers of the government’s support and described them as partners in Telangana’s progress. He emphasised the administration’s focus on creating a conducive market for real estate products like flats, plots, and villas by promoting economic growth and attracting more people to the city. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining law and order, stating that a safe and secure Hyderabad is key to fostering investment and growth.

Drawing from his extensive experience as a former fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force, senior aide to the President of India, a six-time legislator, and a one-time MP, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted his ability to understand and address the diverse needs of Hyderabad’s stakeholders. He emphasised that the Congress government’s efforts are not limited to short-term goals but are designed to create long-term benefits for Hyderabad and its residents. “We are here to listen to your suggestions, address your concerns, and ensure Hyderabad continues to grow and prosper,” he said.
