HYDERABAD: Dubbaka MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy has stated that the public is openly ridiculing the Congress government’s performance over the past 16 months and accused ministers of misrepresenting his remarks.
Addressing the controversy over his recent comments, the MLA defended his statements, asserting that widespread public discontent mirrors his criticism.
He said people across the state, including the Prime Minister, were expressing concern over the Congress administration, particularly pointing to actions such as the alleged bulldozing of forest land at Hyderabad Central University. He claimed that real estate had collapsed under Congress rule and that even those hoping to sell small plots were finding no buyers. According to him, citizens, industrialists, realtors, and farmers alike were longing for a change in government.
Allegations of Poaching and Political Instability
Kotha Prabhakar Reddy accused the Congress of lacking confidence in its own MLAs, alleging that the party had resorted to “gathering” ten BRS MLAs to protect its fragile majority. He said the BRS did not need to buy MLAs and that it was the Congress that had no faith in its own members.
He added that not only himself but every BRS worker remained loyal to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, stating, “Just like Ponguleti once said he was KCR’s soul, and is now a minister, his criticism is ironic.”
Demand for Accountability and Development Funds
The MLA criticised the Congress for failing to allocate even a single rupee in development funds despite a year passing since his election. He accused the government of allowing leaders who lost their deposits in the polls to inaugurate public projects and claimed officials were showing undue deference to them.
Calling for accountability, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said both ministers and MLAs from the Congress should undergo narco-analysis tests along with him if needed. He praised KCR’s tenure as a disciplined and transparent administration, unlike what he described as Congress’s diversionary politics.
He said while he had thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for approving an integrated hostel and a skill university for Dubbaka, he clarified that his political career was built on individual merit and not through lobbying or contracts. Kotha Prabhakar Reddy challenged his critics to examine their own past before questioning him.
He asserted that whenever elections are held, the BRS is certain to return to power with K. Chandrashekar Rao reclaiming the Chief Minister’s post.
