HYDERABAD, February 6: In an unexpected development, ten MLAs who defected from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the Congress party have decided not to attend today’s Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. This decision comes after the Assembly Secretary, Narsimhacharyulu, issued notices to them, as per the Supreme Court’s directives, seeking written explanations regarding their party switch.
The MLAs who received these notices include Danam Nagender (Khairatabad), Kadiyam Srihari (Station Ghanpur), Tellam Venkata Rao (Bhadrachalam), Prakash Goud (Rajendranagar), Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy (Gadwal), Pocharam Srinivas Reddy (Banswada), Arekapudi Gandhi (Serilingampally), Gudem Mahipal Reddy (Patancheru), Kale Yadaiah (Chevella), and Sanjay Kumar (Jagtial).
They have reportedly requested additional time to respond to the notices. Given that the defection case is currently pending in the Supreme Court, these MLAs have chosen to refrain from attending the CLP meeting.
Meanwhile, the ruling Congress party is preparing for the upcoming local body elections. The CLP meeting is expected to focus on strategies for these elections, with ministers advising MLAs and key leaders to aim for victories in the majority of MPTC, ZPTC, and panchayat seats.
