HYDERABAD: In the lead-up to the MLA quota MLC elections, Congress candidates Vijayashanti, Addanki Dayakar, and Kethavath Shankar Naik, accompanied by CPI nominee Nellikanti Satyam, met with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday. The candidates expressed their gratitude to the party leadership for their nominations and pledged to uphold the trust placed in them by working diligently for the party’s success.
The meeting also served as a platform to discuss election strategies, given that voting is scheduled for March 20, with vote counting and results declaration on the same day. Based on the current strength of Congress MLAs in the Assembly, the party is poised to secure four out of the five MLC seats under the MLA quota. Notably, the Congress leadership has allocated one of these seats to its ally, the Communist Party of India (CPI), reflecting the ongoing alliance between the two parties.
The candidates filed their nominations on Monday, marking a significant step in the election process. The discussions with the PCC Chief are expected to bolster the candidates’ preparedness and align their efforts with the party’s objectives for the upcoming elections.
