HYDERABAD: Telangana Legislative Council member Mahesh Kumar Goud has emphasised the need to strengthen the Rural Medical Practitioner (RMP) and Private Medical Practitioner (PMP) system to improve healthcare services in villages. Speaking at an event on Tuesday, he highlighted the crucial role of these practitioners in providing primary medical care in remote areas.
MLC Goud stated that many villages in Telangana lack access to specialised healthcare, making RMPs and PMPs the first point of contact for medical assistance. He urged the government to recognise and support their contributions by providing better training and resources.
He also stressed the importance of equipping rural health practitioners with basic medical infrastructure and ensuring they adhere to ethical medical practices. Additionally, he called for better coordination between RMPs, PMPs, and government health departments to enhance healthcare accessibility.
Local medical associations and rural healthcare workers welcomed his remarks, stating that such measures could significantly improve health outcomes in underserved areas.
