MLC Jeevan Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for neglecting irrigation projects and urged the allocation of funds for Thummidi Hatti in the upcoming budget session.
HYDERABAD: Congerss MLC T Jeevan Reddy has accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of neglecting irrigation projects, claiming that its focus remained limited to Medigadda and Kaleshwaram, while projects like Thummidi Hatti were ignored. He urged the state government to allocate funds for Thummidi Hatti in the upcoming budget session to correct past oversights.
Addressing the media, Jeevan Reddy also raised concerns over Andhra Pradesh’s alleged attempts to divert Krishna River water through the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. He warned that this could adversely impact Telangana’s water resources and called for strong measures to safeguard the state’s share.
Criticizing the BRS leadership, Reddy stated that farmers’ irrigation needs were overlooked as the government prioritized a few select projects while leaving several others incomplete. He emphasized that the Congress government must rectify these mistakes by ensuring fair budget allocations for irrigation development.
With the budget session approaching, irrigation project funding is expected to become a key topic of debate in the Telangana Assembly. The focus will be on securing funds for crucial water projects and addressing farmers’ concerns regarding irrigation infrastructure.
