Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President and BRS MLC K Kavitha has strongly opposed the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to demolish the Hathiram Bhavaji Mutt building in Tirupati, calling it deeply hurtful to the sentiments of the Banjara community and countless devotees.
In a statement issued Friday, Kavitha said the mutt is not merely a historical structure but a vital spiritual centre that has commanded devotion for centuries. She urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw the decision immediately and refrain from any action that could damage the sanctity of the site.

Kavitha emphasized that the mutt holds immense cultural and religious significance, especially among Banjaras. “The government must respect the emotional and spiritual connections people have with such sacred places,” she said, warning that any move to raze the structure would deeply wound public sentiment.
She appealed to the AP government to act with sensitivity and uphold the dignity of religious heritage sites in Tirupati.
