HYDERABAD: BRS MLC K. Kavitha has issued a stern warning that she is keeping a detailed record of those threatening party workers, asserting that such individuals will not be spared under any circumstances.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting in Banswada ahead of the BRS Rajatotsavam (silver jubilee celebrations), Kavitha strongly criticised Congress leaders for allegedly harassing BRS activists.
She stated that some individuals had been making threatening phone calls, warning BRS supporters not to attend the upcoming Rajatotsavam event. She warned that those who dragged workers to police stations and filed false cases would not be forgiven.
Kavitha emphasised that Congress leaders and officials who were troubling BRS workers would not be allowed to act with impunity. “We are not afraid of the loud proclamations of Congress leaders,” she said, adding that even if their ancestors returned, they would not be able to intimidate the people of Telangana.
She went on to accuse the Congress of betrayal, claiming that the party was known for going back on its promises. Kavitha said that Congress leaders had distributed “guarantee cards” signed by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to gain votes but were now failing to fulfil those promises.
She further criticised the Congress for delaying the formation of Telangana despite earlier promises, blaming the party for the deaths of hundreds of Telangana youth.
“The Congress government, which has amassed such strong public opposition within just a year and a half, deserves a Nobel Prize,” Kavitha remarked sarcastically.
Calling on people to participate in the Rajatotsavam, she said that every household should send at least one representative to the event. Kavitha reiterated that it was the BRS, under KCR’s leadership, that had lit the spark of struggle and achieved statehood for Telangana.
She praised the BRS for restoring the self-respect of the people and said the Telangana movement was the only freedom struggle in independent India that achieved its goal.
“Only true warriors fight until they reach their objective, and that was possible only under KCR’s leadership,” she said, adding that Telangana was achieved through a democratic yet intense movement involving significant sacrifice.
Kavitha hailed KCR’s role, stating that he gave up a central ministerial post without hesitation and that Telangana was not granted out of charity but was the result of his relentless efforts and sacrifices.
She also recalled that the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had warned Telangana would fall into darkness and face Naxalite rule. “But instead, we have created a shining Telangana,” she asserted.
Highlighting the developmental achievements under KCR’s leadership, she pointed to the irrigation of one crore acres, the abolition of irrigation tax, and initiatives like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima.
She noted that KCR had made history by procuring every grain of paddy grown by farmers.
