HYDERABAD, February 5: MLC Teenmar Mallanna responded sharply to the show-cause notice issued by the Congress Disciplinary Committee concerning his critical remarks on the caste census survey. Expressing his displeasure, Mallanna questioned the authority behind the notice, stating, “Why issue me a notice? Is the party your personal estate? The Congress party belongs to us, the Backward Classes (BCs).”
He further accused certain leaders of exploiting the party for their dominance and attempting to intimidate him, asserting that such tactics would not succeed. Mallanna warned that if injustices against BCs persist, they would collectively resist. He criticised BC Congress MLAs for endorsing the caste census report as transparent without acknowledging its flaws. Mallanna labelled the survey as an upper-caste enumeration, alleging it was orchestrated by Jana Reddy to safeguard Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservations, and claimed it lacked official legitimacy.
Highlighting discrepancies, he noted that areas like Amberpet’s Tulasi Nagar, with a population of 20,000, were not surveyed, suggesting the census was fraudulent and comprised of false data. Mallanna declared intentions to burn the survey report, viewing it as detrimental to his community’s existence. He also criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent assembly statements on the caste census as blatant falsehoods.
Accusing Jana Reddy of betraying BCs, Mallanna cautioned him to beware, alleging conspiracies that led to the exclusion of 4 million BCs, contrary to Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary statements. He demanded 42% reservations for BCs as per the Kamareddy Declaration, emphasising the need for genuine commitment to the party’s longevity.
The Congress Disciplinary Committee had previously issued the show-cause notice to Mallanna for his critical comments and for burning the caste census form, seeking an explanation for his actions.
