Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually launch the modernisation works at Karimnagar railway station on May 22, according to South Central Railway officials. The announcement came from Shiv Prasad, Assistant Commercial Manager of the Secunderabad division, during a press conference held at the station.
The upgrade is part of the “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme” launched by Modi in August 2023. Since then, a range of development works has been in progress. These include construction of an approach road, six booking counters, a separate counter for persons with disabilities, a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge, two escalators, a park in front of the station, a waiting hall, and directional signboards.
Shiv Prasad added that Karimnagar is one of three stations in Telangana where the Prime Minister will officially launch redevelopment works virtually on May 22. In total, development is underway at 37 railway stations across the state.
