Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam on 21 June to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations, with Andhra Pradesh ramping up for a large-scale event branded under the slogan ‘Yoga Andhra 2025’.
The coastal city will host the national-level programme, and state authorities are scrambling to finalise arrangements ahead of Modi’s arrival. Officials said a four-phase awareness campaign has already been mapped out, set to roll from 29 May and run for four weeks.
According to the plan, the first leg kicks off in districts on 5 June. Then villages on 12 June. Educational institutions follow on 17 June, where students from Visakhapatnam will be roped in for demonstrations and mass participation drives.
The Centre has sanctioned 2 lakh T-shirts and yoga mats for distribution across the state. Personnel from AYUSH Mission, certified yoga instructors, associations like Yoga and Yogananda Sports, physical education teachers, coaches, and staff from central government bodies are expected to take part.
Police have begun chalking out a security blueprint for the Prime Minister’s visit. Senior officials conducted a preliminary review meet and issued instructions for multi-layered protection throughout the event duration.
