Hyderabad, January 11: Residents of Macherla town in Palnadu district are grappling with a severe monkey menace, as groups of monkeys have invaded residential areas, causing chaos and leaving locals in distress. The primates have been entering homes, snatching food, and roaming on rooftops, creating panic among residents.
The situation has worsened for the past two days, with monkeys even disrupting sleep during the night. They are believed to have wandered into the town in groups from the nearby forest, searching for food and water.
Alarmed by the ongoing disturbances, residents have lodged complaints with the local forest department. Responding to the issue, officials have initiated efforts to address the problem. Trained monkey catchers have been brought in, and traps have been set up in multiple locations.
The forest department has assured residents that captured monkeys will be relocated to the Srisailam Dornala forest region. Despite these measures, residents remain anxious and have urged authorities to expedite the removal process.
The forest department is continuing its operations, but residents have appealed for swift and effective action to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
