Hyderabad: A woman abandoned her 15-month-old healthy son at the Karimnagar district hospital, leaving behind a handwritten note with his name and date of birth, officials said.
According to hospital staff, the child appeared healthy and well cared for. The mother is believed to have raised him with affection, but may have faced circumstances that forced her to leave.
The hospital superintendent, Dr. Veera Reddy, confirmed the incident and said the baby was shifted to a child care centre for protection.
The handwritten note suggested the mother wanted her chosen name for the child to remain with him even if she could not stay.
The incident left hospital staff emotional, with many wondering about the hardship that might have driven the woman to abandon her child.
