MP Etela Rajender urges faster work on Hyderabad flyover projects

Hyderabad: BJP MP Etela Rajender urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to speed up work on two major flyover projects in Greater Hyderabad. He said delays on the Uppal flyover along the Warangal national highway and the Kompally flyover on the Nizamabad highway were causing heavy congestion and repeated public inconvenience.

MP Etela Rajender presses for action on pending projects

Etela Rajender met the minister on Sunday in Nagpur along with BJP leader Maheshwar Reddy and MLA Ramarav Patel. During the meeting, he explained that local officials had already crossed multiple deadlines and yet the work showed no meaningful acceleration. He noted that these delays were creating avoidable traffic pressure on large stretches of the national highway network.

He also pointed out the rising traffic on the Balanagar–Narsapur national highway and stated that the route required a new flyover to ease movement. Moreover, he informed the minister that a new highway from Nagarjunasagar crossroad to Amaravati was under construction. He observed that this corridor would attract higher traffic soon and therefore needed a flyover at Sagar X Road.

According to him, the Union Minister responded positively to these requests. Gadkari assured the delegation that he would review the proposals with officials and announce a decision shortly. Etela Rajender stated that the prompt response demonstrated a clear intent to address the city’s immediate infrastructure needs.

MP Etela Rajender flags Hyderabad’s rising traffic load

Hyderabad faces daily congestion because the city hosts more than one crore residents and another half-crore commuters. As a result, road users spend more time in traffic than at work. Several citizens have complained that routine travel has become exhausting and unpredictable.

Increasing population requires matching infrastructure, he said, and governments must therefore plan with urgency. Central and state authorities are building flyovers across the city, yet slow progress continues to trouble commuters. Etela Rajender stressed that only the timely completion of these projects can ease pressure on major routes.
