HYDERABAD: BJP MP Dr K. Laxman has strongly criticised the proposed caste census, claiming that it is being conducted solely to appease Muslims.
He alleged that by including Muslims in the Backward Classes (BC) list, the Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were undermining the rights of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Addressing the media, Laxman questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stance, asking if this was the role model he envisioned. He accused both the Congress and BRS parties of taking superficial measures when it came to addressing the issues faced by the OBC community.
He maintained that such moves were politically motivated and detrimental to genuine BC welfare.
