MP Raghunandan Rao calls for strict monitoring of welfare schemes in Medak

Hyderabad: Medak MP Raghunandan Rao on Wednesday urged officials to ensure continuous monitoring of all central and state welfare schemes being implemented in the district. He chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Collectorate, attended by District Collector Rahul Raj and senior officials.

Cancer hospital, mobile screening units planned in Medak

The MP stressed that field-level oversight is essential. This ensures that benefits of development and welfare programs in sectors such as agriculture, education, PMAY, R&B, and rural livelihoods reach genuine beneficiaries. He directed officials to resolve implementation issues, streamline fund usage, and improve beneficiary selection.

A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a cancer hospital in Medak. Rao said the Collector had identified 1,000 square yards for the facility. The initiative is progressing swiftly with central funds and private CSR support. For the first time in any district, a mobile unit will conduct preliminary cancer screening every week in mandals. Bharat Rajnik company will operate the mobile unit. Meanwhile, BDL under CSR has committed ₹69.59 lakh for a dedicated screening bus.

Highway and infrastructure projects also reviewed

The meeting also discussed pending national highway projects, including the Narsapur segment of NH 765DG and the Gummadidala–Narsapur elevated corridor. Officials were instructed to coordinate with the Forest Department to expedite clearances.

Raghunandan Rao thanked BDL for their support. He noted that his daughter, a doctor, would help operate the medical outreach effort. Collector Rahul Raj urged officials to act on all issues raised during the DISHA meeting without delay.
